Wyoming Supreme Court Opinion on Capitol Renovation
The Wyoming Supreme Court has rendered an opinion on the lawsuit filed by Treasurer Gordon concerning the Capitol Square project. The court ruled that the legislation concerning the project was unconstitutional on its face and ordered the District Court to proceed according to the Supreme Court ruling. The order was a strongly worded order to the dismissal of the case by Judge Campbell.
“It is therefore ordered and adjudged for the reasons stated in the opinion herein this
day delivered and filed that the judgment of the said district court be, and the same hereby
is, reversed, and the case is remanded for proceedings consistent with the opinion.”
The main contract in the case is a contract with JE Dunn that was not competitively bid using a process that is described in an earlier posting by Equality State Taxpayers Association.
